Premier Glass Coatings and Finishes is a father-and-son shop. John Rodie has been installing architectural window film since the 1980s and was a charter member of the International Window Film Association in 1991. He runs the company today with his son Seth. We're an authorized dealer for 3M — including the Prestige Dealer Network — as well as Eastman's LLumar and Solyx decorative films.

Everything else in the building envelope is insulated. Glass isn't. It lets heat pour in, fades whatever it lands on, and throws glare across every screen in the room — and closing the blinds only trades one problem for another.
Fading you can't undo
UV is the leading cause of fading in hardwood, upholstery, rugs, and artwork. By the time you notice the colour has shifted, it's permanent.

What makes 3M and LLumar film different from cheaper tinting?
3M and LLumar architectural films are built with multi-layer nanotechnology that targets infrared and UV specifically, rather than simply darkening the glass. That means high heat rejection and low reflectivity at the same time — plus consistent clarity and durability, backed by manufacturer warranties from 3M and Eastman. Cheaper films tend to achieve heat rejection mainly by going dark, and they're far more prone to purpling, bubbling and delaminating within a few years. We're authorized for 3M, LLumar and Solyx, so we can specify across all three rather than defend one catalog.
Will my windows look dark or mirrored?
Not with the films most homeowners choose. The 3M Prestige series is non-reflective and doesn't darken glass appreciably — from the street the windows look essentially unchanged, and from inside the view stays clear. Night Vision films are specifically designed to keep interior reflectivity low so your windows don't turn into mirrors after dark. If you do want a darker or more private look, that's available too — it's your call, not a side effect.
How much will it actually reduce heat and energy costs?
3M solar control films block up to 97% of infrared rays, which carry the majority of the sun's heat. In practice the biggest difference shows up in sun-facing rooms that were previously uncomfortable, and in how hard the HVAC has to work through the afternoon. Actual savings depend on your glass, orientation, and how much of it you treat — we'll give you a realistic picture at the consultation rather than a headline number.
Will it protect my floors and furniture from fading?
Yes — UV is the single biggest cause of fading in hardwood, upholstery, rugs, and artwork, and 3M residential films block up to 99.9% of it. That meaningfully extends the life of what's behind the glass. Fading is also driven by visible light and heat, so film reduces the problem substantially rather than eliminating it entirely.
Do window films help in winter too?
Certain films do. Beyond blocking summer heat gain, some 3M films improve the insulating performance of the glass and reduce heat loss through the windows in cold months. If year-round performance matters more to you than peak summer cooling, tell us at the consultation — it changes which film we'd recommend.
How long does it last, and what's the warranty?
We carry a lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling, and cracking, on top of 3M's own manufacturer warranty on the film itself. Care is simple: let it cure for a few days after installation, then clean with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive, ammonia-free cleaner. Avoid scrubbing pads and you'll get decades out of it.
